History
This server hosts a forum which descends from a mailing list that was once called The BassList.
Originaly hosted at the University of Texas, the BassList started
out as a car audio related forum sometime in 198?. With a primary
focus on car subwoofer systems
Over a period of time the content shifted more towards DIY home
audio. Regular topics of discussion include the design, building,
and testing of "High End" DIY speaker systems.
In early 2002 the list had to be moved from the UT server to a
new home at the SNIPPETS.ORG
server, hosted by Bob Stout. The list subsequently underwent a name
change to DIYSPEAKERS mailing list. This name better reflects the
content of the list and it's archives. The website is also a new
additon to the list and will continue to grow with input from the
list membership.
In Novenber 2007 the list was transformed into the present web-based forum.
Our membership rolls include (but are not limited to):
- People from many countries
- Professionals in the audio/speaker industry
- Engineers
- Laymen
- College Students
- Gurus
- Novices
